Champions Tennis – McEnroe Signs Up For Royal Albert Hall

John McEnroe will be part of a star-studded field of champions as tennis returns to the Royal Albert Hall, 2-6 December, 2015, it was announced today.

McEnroe, who headlined the inaugural event at the iconic venue in London in 1997, is excited to return.

“The Royal Albert Hall is our Wimbledon,” said the seven-time Grand Slam Champion. “Every time I step out there I realise how lucky I am, how cool it is that we still get to play the sport we love in front of so many people that appreciate what we do. I train hard all year so that I’m ready to come to London. I can’t wait to get out there again.”

McEnroe won seven Grand Slam titles in his career and topped the world rankings for 170 weeks. He won Wimbledon for the first time in 1981, avenging a final defeat to Bjorn Borg the year before, and went on to lift three Wimbledon crowns.

The American has transcended tennis, becoming one of the most widely recognised athletes of all time. These days he is the most respected and loved tennis commentator on the planet.

Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall is the season-finale to the ATP Champions Tour and is played over five days, with two sessions each day – one in the afternoon, one in the evening. As well as McEnroe and Henman, who was the first confirmed player for 2015, many of the world’s most popular and well-known tennis players will come together on the greatest stage, with further announcements to be made in due course.

Champions Tennis has enjoyed record ticket sales for 2015 and tickets are available from £23.50 at www.championstennis.co.uk/tickets/ or by calling the Royal Albert Hall box office on +44 (0) 20 7070 4404.
